Recap: Miss State vs. Texas A&M

Starkville, MS (Sports Network) - The Texas A&M Aggies held Mississippi State to just two points in the extra session to defeat the Bulldogs, 55-49, in a Southeastern Conference overtime battle at Humphrey Coliseum.

J'Mychal Reese scored six of his 10 points after regulation for Texas A&M (13-7, 3-4 SEC) as it snapped a four-game losing slide. Fabyon Harris scored a team-best 17 points, Elston Turned contributed 11 points, and Kourtney Roberson filled up the stat sheet with eight points, 12 rebounds, and six steals.

Gavin Ware paced MSU (7-12, 2-5) with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting and Colin Borchert added 10 points.

The Bulldogs were in control early on as they went 10-of-15 from the floor, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range, to take a 29-17 lead into the intermission. Texas A&M shot 42.1 percent from the field in the opening stanza, but it did not attempt a single free throw before the break.

The roles reversed after halftime as MSU cooled off to make just 26.3 percent of its field goal attempts while the Aggies improved to knock down 46.7 percent of their attempts from the floor. Texas A&M held a 47-44 advantage on the scoreboard before Craig Sword tied it up by making a trey with only 12 seconds showing on the clock. Reese missed a potential game-winning jumper at the buzzer, which sent the game into overtime.

The Bulldogs made just one of their six attempts from the floor and did not make any trips to the charity stripe in the extra session. Texas A&M secured the decision behind Reese's leadership.

The Aggies held a 31-24 edge in the rebounding battle. Both sides lacked efficiency on the offensive end as MSU committed 24 turnovers while Texas A&M was guilty of 22 miscues.
