Recap: Texas A&M vs. Louisiana Tech

College Station, TX (Sports Network) - Elston Turner tallied 15 points as he helped guide the Texas A&M Aggies to a 71-59 win over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs as part of the CBE Hall of Fame Tipoff Classic at Reed Arena.

Also scoring in double figures for the Aggies (1-0) were Fabyon Harris with 14 points and Kourtney Roberson 12 in the season-opening victory.

The Bulldogs (0-1) were paced by Raheem Appleby who dropped in a game-high 20 points as he shot 9-of-22 from the floor, but missed all six of his three- point tries. Before fouling out, Brandon Gibson added 13 points, while Cordarius Johnson contributed 10 in the setback.

Texas A&M opened the meeting on a 5-0 run and led by as many as 10 points in the first half before taking a 30-25 advantage into the break.

In the second half the Aggies maintained a double-digit lead for almost the entire period, making good on 45.2 percent from the floor in the frame to take the 12-point win.

LaTech finished the night shooting only 35.7 percent from the floor and 6- of-22 on the perimeter, while also turning the ball over 15 times.
