Recap: Vanderbilt vs. Villanova

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Mouphtaou Yarou collected 16 points and seven rebounds, helping lift the Villanova Wildcats to a 62-52 road win over the Vanderbilt Commodores as part of the SEC/Big East Challenge at Memorial Gymnasium.

JayVaughn Pinkston provided a spark off the bench with 13 points and eight rebounds to help the Wildcats (4-3) snap a three-game slide.

Rod Odom led the way with 14 points for the Commodores (2-4). Kevin Bright recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards, while Kedren Johnson also scored 12 in the loss.

Vanderbilt jumped out to a five-point lead four minutes into the contest, but Villanova kept things close and took the lead midway through the opening frame. The Wildcats closed out the half with an 8-3 surge to take a 31-26 halftime lead.

Villanova marched to the free-throw line in the second stanza, holding a key 16-6 scoring edge at the charity stripe over the final 20 minutes to seal the win.

The Wildcats held a 21-9 advantage in bench points in addition to outrebounding the Commodores, 34-28.
