Recap: Vanderbilt vs. Middle Tennessee

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Bruce Massey recorded a team-high 17 points as the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores, 56-52, at Bridgestone Arena.

Kerry Hammonds contributed 14 points, and Shawn Jones pulled down nine rebounds and scored eight points off the bench for the Blue Raiders (9-3).

For the Commodores (5-5), Kedren Johnson scored a game-high 25 points and was the only Vanderbilt player in double-figures.

The first half ended with the teams even at 31-31. Both teams made three 3-point field goals and shot over 40.0 percent from the floor.

Middle Tennessee made 11-of-26 shots from the floor and held Vanderbilt to an 0-of-4 effort from beyond the arc in the last 20 minutes of play. The Blue Raiders ended the game on a 16-3 run as the Commodores missed their final 10 field goal attempts.

The Blue Raiders controlled the boards by a 34-25 margin and held the Commodores to 3-of-12 shooting from beyond the arc.
