Recap: Illinois vs. USC

Maui, HI (Sports Network) - Brandon Paul poured in 26 points to lead the Illinois Fighting Illini to a 94-64 rout of the USC Trojans during the Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center.

D.J. Richardson had 13 points as well for Illinois (4-0) which remains unbeaten. Tracy Abrams chipped in 11 points and handed out eight assists and Tyler Griffey tacked on 10 points.

Eric Wise paced USC (2-1) with 13 points while J.T. Terrell put in 11 and Jio Fontan contributed 10.

Illinois shot at a scorching 68.8 percent from the floor including 8-of-14 from beyond the arc to take a dominating 57-26 lead at halftime. On the other side USC could not keep pace connecting on just 40.0 percent of its shots while turning in a 1-of-6 effort from 3-point range.

The Illini cooled off in the second half netting just 36.7 percent of their field goals in the final frame but that was more than enough to coast to the 30-point victory.

Illinois will face Chaminade in the semifinals on Tuesday while USC will play in a consolation game against Texas.
