Recap: Iowa vs. Illinois

Iowa City, IA (Sports Network) - Roy Devyn Marble scored 21 points in leading the Iowa Hawkeyes to a 63-55 victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini in a Big Ten Conference bout at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Josh Oglesby chipped in 10 points off the bench for Iowa (19-11, 8-9 Big Ten) which had lost two of its previous three games.

Brandon Paul had 18 points and a game-high nine rebounds add D.J. Richardson registered 13 points for Illinois (21-10, 8-9) which had won six of its previous seven.

Iowa went into the break leading 31-28 by shooting 48.3 percent from the field. Though Illinois shot just 26.5 percent from the field, a 7-1 edge from the free-throw line kept the Illini in range.

Both teams struggled in the final 20 minutes with Illinois hitting 31 percent from the floor while Iowa was even worse at 28 percent. However the Hawkeyes notched 15 points from the free-throw line to hold on.

Gabriel Olaseni blocked six shots to lead Iowa which had 12 rejections as a team. The Hawkeyes also outscored the Illini, 28-12, in the paint.
