Recap: Iowa vs. Iowa State

Iowa City, IA (Sports Network) - Aaron White scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Iowa Hawkeyes to an 80-71 victory over the Iowa State Cyclones in this season's edition of the Corn-Cy Hawk Series at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Anthony Clemmons finished with 14 points and eight assists for Iowa (8-2). Mike Gesell shot only 2-of-10 from the field, but he converted 6-of-6 attempts at the free throw line on his way to 11 points. The win was the third in a row for the Hawkeyes. Roy Devyn Marble was held to six points, making it the first time this season he has failed to reach double-figures.

Korie Lucious and Percy Gibson tallied 14 points each for Iowa State (6-3). Lucious also dished out seven assists, but accompanied the helpers with seven turnovers. Chris Babb and Georges Niang scored 13 points each while Tyrus McGee netted 12 points. The loss snapped the Cyclones three-game winning streak versus their intrastate rival.

Iowa State took a 36-35 advantage in the intermission after it knocked down 51.9 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half. The Hawkeyes led by as many as 10 before the break but went into halftime trailing after making just 1-of-10 shots from three-point range. The Cyclones' reserves scored 27 points in the opening 20 minutes.

Devyn Marble drained a jumper to put Iowa on top less than a minute into the second half, and the home team led the rest of the way. The Hawkeyes outscored Iowa State, 18-6, in the paint in the second half to coast to the nine-point decision.

The Cyclones were unable to overcome their 19 turnovers, which Iowa turned into 22 points.
