Recap: Iowa vs. Purdue

Iowa City, IA (Sports Network) - Aaron White posted 18 points and nine rebounds as the Iowa Hawkeyes coasted to a 58-48 decision over the Purdue Boilermakers in a Big Ten Conference matchup at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Roy Devyn Marble also provided 18 points for Iowa (18-10, 7-8 Big 10) which he accompanied with four assists.

Donnie Hale scored 13 points off the bench to pace Purdue (13-15, 6-9) while A.J. Hammons tallied 12 points and nine rebounds in 18 minutes of action. D.J. Byrd and Ronnie Johnson scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, as the Boilermakers suffered a loss for the fourth time in five outings.

Purdue came out of the gate ice cold to shoot just 30.4 percent from the field and miss all five of its 3-point attempts in the opening 20 minutes. The Hawkeyes made only 21.4 percent of their field goal tries in the first half, but took a 23-16 lead into the intermission by converting 9-of-12 at the free- throw line.

The Boilermakers improved to connect on 41.4 percent of their shots from the floor in the second stanza. Iowa knocked down 43.5 percent of their field goal tries and sank 12-of-17 at the charity stripe after the break to complete the wire-to-wire victory and notch its third win in four games.

Purdue's reserves outscored Iowa's bench, 27-13, but it was not enough to overcome the Hawkeyes' 10-2 edge in points off of turnovers.
