Recap: Nebraska vs. Nebraska Omaha

Lincoln, NE (Sports Network) - Dylan Talley scored 22 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the Nebraska Cornhuskers posted a 75-62 win over the Mavericks of Nebraska-Omaha as part of the Joe Cipriano Nebraska Classic at the Devaney Center.

Andre Almeida scored 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field for the Huskers (3-0), followed by Brandon Ubel and Ray Gallegos with 11 points and seven rebounds apiece.

The Mavericks (1-4) were paced by Justin Simmons who dropped in 19 points, but he also turned the ball over six times. Alex Welhouse knocked down 4-of-5 shots from three-point range as he registered 14 points in the setback.

Omaha led for a good portion of the first half and yet even after shooting 57.1 percent from the floor and holding the hosts to just 2-of-12 behind the three-point line in the period, the Mavericks found themselves down by two at the break, 36-34.

In the second half the Huskers again had their issues from three-point range (1-of-10), but overall the squad made good on 50.0 percent from the floor in order to claim the double-digit victory.

In a game that experienced seven ties and nine lead changes, the Mavericks were beaten on the glass, 39-28, and hurt themselves with 17 turnovers. Nebraska was simply too strong on the interior as the host scored 46 points in the paint, compared to just 14 for the visitors.
