Recap: Nebraska vs. Jacksonville St

Lincoln, NE (Sports Network) - Brandon Ubel recorded a double-double to lead the Nebraska Cornhuskers to a 59-55 triumph over the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at the Devaney Center.

Ubel finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds for Nebraska (7-3) which had lost back-to-back games entering play. Shavon Shields added 14 points and Dylan Talley chipped in 10 points.

Darion Rackley led four players in double figures for Jacksonville State (8-3) with 17 points. Tarvin Gaines contribute ed 13 points, Ronnie Boggs chipped in 11 and Brian Williams tacked on 10. The Gamecocks had a five-game winning streak put to an end in the loss.

Nebraska led 29-22 at the break by shooting at a 47.8 percent clip while limiting Jacksonville State to just 30.8 percent shooting. The Gamecocks stayed within striking distance by outscoring the Cornhuskers 9-0 from beyond the arc.

The Cornhuskers led by as many as 13 points in the second half but had that lead slashed to one (56-55) with 21 seconds remaining. Nebraska was able to hold off Jacksonville State by hitting 3-of-4 free throw attempts in the final seconds while the Gamecocks missed two final shots.

Nebraska outscored Jacksonville State 28-16 on points in the paint and had an advantage in contributions form the bench with 18 points to just four from the Gamecocks' reserves. The Cornhuskers miss all five of their shots from beyond the arc.
