Recap: Penn State vs. Penn

University Park, PA (Sports Network) - Jermaine Marshall scored 18 points to lead the Penn State Nittany Lions to a 58-47 victory over the Penn Quakers in a non-conference showdown at the Bryce Jordan Center.

D.J. Newbill added 13 points and five assists and Brandon Taylor chipped in 11 points for Penn State (4-3).

Penn (2-6) was paced by Tony Hicks who scored 10 points and was the only player in double figures.

Penn state led 31-22 at halftime after shooting 47.1 percent including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc in the first half. Penn shot just 39.1 percent and was outscored 10-1 from the free throw line.

Although the Nittany Lions missed all eight of their shots from 3-point range in the second half they managed to close out the game by shooting 40.0 percent from the field while holding the Quakers to 32.1 percent.

Penn State outscored Penn 26-16 on points in the paint and 13-3 on second chance points.
