Recap: Baylor vs. Texas

Waco, TX (Sports Network) - Cory Jefferson posted 25 points and 10 rebounds, as the Baylor Bears earned an 86-79 overtime victory against the Texas Longhorns in the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams at the Ferrell Center.

Pierre Jackson added 24 points and six assists for the Bears (9-4, 1-0 Big 12), while Isaiah Austin finished with 18 points and 12 boards.

The Bears held UT to 38.2-percent shooting from the floor in the first half, as they went into the locker room with a 40-31 halftime lead, their largest cushion of the game.

However, the Longhorns turned things around in the second half with a 51.6- percent shooting effort while holding Baylor to 7-of-30 shooting (.233) to force overtime.

Jefferson and Jackson took over in the extra session, as they accounted for 17 of Baylor's 18 points. Jefferson, who had 11 points in overtime, sank a pair of free throws with 50 seconds remaining to break a 79-79 tie. Those free throws ignited a 7-0 Bears' run to close out the contest.

Baylor overcame a 35.9-percent shooting effort from the floor by outscoring UT at the foul line, 36-9. The Bears have now won seven of the last nine meetings in the head-to-head series.
