Recap: Kansas vs. Texas

Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) - Jeff Withey recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, as No. 14 Kansas routed Texas, 73-47, on Saturday at Allen Fieldhouse.

Withey also blocked two shots to move past Texas' Chris Mihm for first place on the Big 12's all-time blocked shots list with 265 rejections.

"It definitely means something to me," Withey said of the record. "I put a lot of hard work into getting it. I have a lot more games to play. Hopefully, I can put some distance on it and make sure it doesn't get touched for 20 years or so."

Travis Releford also finished with 15 points, while Ben McLemore and Elijah Johnson added 13 and 12 points, respectively, for the Jayhawks (21-4, 9-3 Big 12), who have won two straight on the heels of a three-game skid to move into a tie for first place in the conference with Kansas State and Oklahoma State.

Myck Kabongo led the Longhorns (11-14, 3-9) with 13 points and Connor Lammert added nine for Texas, which has lost three of its last four games.

"All the things we talked about that we wanted to do, we didn't do," Texas coach Rick Barnes admitted. "I think we have to give them credit with their defense, but we had a lot of looks that we would have liked to make, but you have to make them."

The Jayhawks led from wire-to-wire in the rout, as Releford opened the contest with back-to-back 3-pointers around a Lammert layup before Johnson added a triple of his own to give Kansas a 15-8 lead just over five minutes in.

McLemore then added to the 3-point barrage with a trey near the midpoint of the half, sparking a 13-2 Kansas run that Withey capped with a pair of free throws to make it 28-11 with just over a minute left.

The Jayhawks carried a 28-15 cushion into the break before opening the second half on a 13-4 spurt to build a 41-19 lead and put the contest out of reach.

Texas never got closer than 17 the rest of the way, as Kansas pushed its lead as high as 35 before cruising to victory down the stretch.

Dorm Report: Rooting for the lesser of two evils

I really do try my best not to hate anyone, seeing as how that word can be thrown around rather easily, which is why it was so tough watching the Florida State-Louisville game on Thursday night.
