Recap: Kansas vs. TCU

Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) - Jeff Withey scored 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting and pulled down six rebounds to go along with three blocks, as No. 9 Kansas rolled over TCU, 74-48, to avenge the Jayhawks' shocking loss to the Horned Frogs on Feb. 6.

Ben McLemore added 14 points for the Jayhawks (23-4, 11-3 Big 12), who have won four straight following a rare midseason three-game losing streak. Perry Ellis and Travis Releford netted 12 points apiece in the victory.

"When we were down there (TCU) they came out and kind of hit us in the mouth," Withey said. "Today we came out with a lot of energy and had a really quick start. We learned from the loss down there and the two that followed. This experience has led to us winning four in a row now."

Devonta Abron paced TCU with 18 points and nine boards and Kyan Anderson scored 11 points for the Horned Frogs (10-17, 1-13), who sit at the bottom of the conference standings.

Kansas jumped out of the gates like a team seeking revenge, scoring the first 11 points and dominating the play early on. The lead stretched to 32-9 on a McLemore 3-pointer with just over six minutes still to play in the first half.

In fact, TCU finished the first half with a mere nine points -- the team's fewest in the last 15 years of Big 12 play -- and trailed 38-9 at the break. The Jayhawks, in some sense, returned the favor, as they had only managed 13 points in the first half of the team's upset loss earlier in the month.

Kansas wore throwback uniforms to honor the school's 1988 national championship team, and put on a great show for the dozens of former players, coaches and staff in attendance to celebrate 115 years of basketball.

The Horned Frogs shot 4-of-23 from the floor, including 0-for-7 from 3-point range, in a horrible first half showing.

The home team's lead grew to 30 points 3 1/2 minutes into the second half and its advantage was never in doubt as it closed the contest easily.

"Obviously they were upset," TCU coach Trent Johnson said. "I don't know what for. We struggle to score, especially when we play people like (Kansas). They're very talented. It was very interesting, but there were some positives from our standpoint. The first positive was that we got here last night and had an hour of practice. Then, we had a chance to tour the facility. I'm a big basketball historian and a big basketball guy. Phog Allen (Fieldhouse) was eye-opening for us."
