Recap: Oklahoma State vs. UC Davis

Stillwater, OK (Sports Network) - Markel Brown and Le'Bryan Nash each had 16 points to lead the Oklahoma State Cowboys to a 73-65 win in the season opener against the UC Davis Aggies at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Jean-Paul Olukemi added 10 points for Oklahoma State (1-0) while Marcus Smart had eight points, seven rebounds and seven assists in his college debut. Phil Forte had 13 points off the bench.

Corey Hawkins had a team-high 13 points for UC Davis (0-1). Ryan Howley added a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds while Josh Ritchart chipped in 10 points off the bench.

Oklahoma State led 37-32 at the half after shooting 41.4 percent from the floor. UC Davis connected on 35.5 percent of its first half field goal attempts.

In the second half the Aggies were the more successful offensive squad knocking down an even 50 percent of its shots to 39.3 percent from the Cowboys. Oklahoma State was able to make up for that discrepancy with a 12-6 advantage from the free throw line.

Oklahoma State outscored UC Davis 22-10 on points off turnovers but was dominated on the boards by a 43-29 margin.
