Recap: Texas vs. Rice

Austin, TX (Sports Network) - Sheldon McClellan netted 14 points to lead the Texas Longhorns to a 57-41 win over the in-state rival Rice Owls at the Frank Irwin Center.

McClellan also had a career-high nine rebounds for the Longhorns (8-5), who improve to 7-0 at home this season. Julien Lewis added 12 points while Javan Felix did a little bit of everything with seven points, seven assists and six boards. The Longhorns dominated the glass, outrebounding Rice 46-23.

Austin Ramljak paced the Owls (3-9) with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting off the bench. Tamir Jackson scored 12 points. Rice struggled with foul trouble throughout as four players finished the game with four fouls and Julian DeBose fouled out.

The score was tied 26-26 at halftime despite just three players for Rice registering points. All five of the Longhorns' starters scored a basket and they outrebounded the Owls 22-11 but turned the ball over nine times. No points were scored in the final 2:41 of the half.

Texas led 41-38 midway through the second half when Rice went cold from the floor and the Longhorns took advantage, running off a 12-1 run to put the game away. Texas held Rice without a second chance point in the second half.

Texas has now won 15 of the last 16 matchups with Rice and leads the all-time series, 136-59.
