Recap: Texas vs. West Virginia

Austin, TX (Sports Network) - Aaric Murray recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds off the bench to lead West Virginia over the Texas Longhorns to a 57-53 overtime decision at the Frank Erwin Center, for the Mountaineers first ever Big 12 Conference victory.

Murray was 4-of-6 from the field with four steals for WVU (8-6, 1-1 Big 12), which has won four of its last five. Jabarie Hinds added 11 points and six rebounds, but was just 4-of-18 from the field and 1-of-7 from long range. Kevin Noreen pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.

Jonathan Holmes was 5-of-8 from the field and 2-of-3 from 3-point range with nine rebounds for Texas (8-7, 0-2), which has lost three of its last four. Javan Felix added 11 points and a game-high four assists.

Texas took a 24-21 lead into the break after holding the Mountaineers to 25.0 percent shooting from the field and 0-of-10 from 3-point range in the first half.

Nearing the end of regulation, Eron Harris hit a 3-pointer for WVU to give it a three-point lead with 16 seconds remaining. The Longhorns answered right back as Holmes sank his shot from beyond the arc to tie the game with three seconds left which led to a need for an overtime session.

The Mountaineers took the lead with 3:14 in overtime and never gave it back. Up by two points with eight seconds left, Murray got a steal and was immediately fouled by Sheldon McClellan, sending the Mountaineers' junior center to the line at a critical situation. Murray delivered as he made both free-throws to extend WVU's lead to four which sealed the deal.

WVU earned a 45-39 rebounding edge and its bench supplied 32 points to 20 by the Longhorns' reserves.
