Recap: UAB vs. Northeastern

Birmingham, AL (Sports Network) - Terence Jones and Preston Purifoy each scored 17 points as the UAB Blazers defeated the Northeastern Huskies, 83-63, in a non-conference matchup at Bartow Arena.

Jordan Swing had 15 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for UAB (7-6) which won for the third time in four games. Rod Rucker posted a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds as well for the Blazers.

Quincy Ford had a double-double of his own (14 points, 10 rebounds) for Northeastern (5-7) which has lost six of its last seven. Reggie Spencer added 13 points and Jonathan Lee chipped in 11 points.

UAB led 47-34 at intermission after shooting at a 51.7 percent clip in the first half including a 6-of-15 effort from beyond the arc. Northeastern fell behind by shooting just 40.6 percent in the first 20 minutes.

The Blazers continued to shoot well in the second half and nailed 53.8 percent of their field goal attempts. Northeastern cooled to 31.3 percent in the final period.

The UAB bench outscored its counterpart 26-12. Northeastern lost despite a 22-11 edge in second chance points.
