Recap: UAB vs. Memphis

Birmingham, AL (Sports Network) - Adonis Thomas tallied 19 points and nine rebounds to help lead the Memphis Tigers to a 69-53 victory over the UAB Blazers in a Conference USA showdown at Bartow Arena.

Joe Jackson added 17 points and five assists for Memphis (12-3, 2-0 C-USA), which has won six in a row and 10 of its last 11. Tarik Black recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, Shaq Goodwin also put up 10 points, and D.J. Stephens blocked a career-high six shots.

For UAB (8-9, 0-2), Rod Rucker logged 16 points and 11 boards, while Fahro Alihodzic added 12 points. The Blazers are now losers of three straight.

Despite shooting just 1-of-11 from 3-point range in the first half, Memphis opened up a 34-20 lead at intermission behind 43.8 percent shooting overall. UAB made good on just 7-of-28 from the field in the opening 20 minutes, including 0-of-7 from beyond the arc.

The Tigers field goal shooting improved to 58.8 percent in the second half and the game was never in doubt.

Memphis won the rebounding battle, 44-34, and connected on 20-of-32 from the free-throw line.
