Recap: UAB vs. Rice

Birmingham, AL (Sports Network) - Jordan Swing recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the UAB Blazers over the Rice Owls, 80-57, for a dominating Conference USA victory at Bartow Arena.

Swing was 8-of-11 from the field for UAB (12-14, 4-7 C-USA), which has won three of its last four. Preston Purifoy also scored 19 points while going 7- of-8 from the field and 4-of-5 from 3-point range. Coming off the bench, Fahro Alihodzic contributed 11 points.

Tamir Jackson tallied 21 points while shooting 9-of-16 from the floor for Rice (5-20, 1-10), which has lost five in a row. Julian DeBose was the only other Owl to score in double figures with 10 points while shooting 3-of-10 from the field.

In the first half, UAB shot 50.0 percent from the field while Rice shot just 34.6 percent and went 2-of-13 from 3-point range. The Blazers led 34-25 at the break.

The Blazers shot 50.0 percent from the floor again in the second half while going 7-of-14 from 3-point range. They outscored the Owls 46-32 for the run away victory.

Rice was outscored beyond the arc, 33-9, on the night.
