Recap: Arizona State vs. DePaul

Tempe, AZ (Sports Network) - Brandon Young finished with 18 points and nine assists to help the DePaul Blue Demons coast to a 78-61 victory over the Arizona State Sun Devils in a non-conference tilt at Wells Fargo Arena.

Cleveland Melvin recorded a double-double for DePaul (7-3) with 12 points and 10 boards. Worrel Clahar added 14 points and Moses Morgan connected on 5-of-6 attempts from the field to net 11 points. The win was the fifth in a row for the Blue Demons.

The Sun Devils (8-2) had their four-game winning streak snapped with the loss. Carrick Felix, Jahii Carson, and Evan Gordon scored 12 points each. Jordan Bachynski got into the mix with 10 points and two blocks while Jonathan Gilling grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

ASU opened up the game on a 7-0 run, but the Blue Demons rallied back and led by as many as 14 before they took a 42-33 advantage into halftime. DePaul's bench scored 18 points in the opening 20 minutes during which time the ASU reserves failed to produce a single point.

DePaul knocked down 55.2 percent of its field goal attempts in the second half to maintain a comfortable edge in the scoreboard until the final buzzer. The Sun Devils were unable to overcome the deficit after converting only 2-of-9 from beyond the arc after halftime.

The Blue Demons dominated inside as they outscored the hosts 12-6 on second chance points and held a 44-34 edge in the rebounding battle.
