Recap: Marshall vs. East Carolina

Huntington, WV (Sports Network) - DeAndre Kane tallied 22 points and eight assists as the Marshall Thundering Herd made easy work of the East Carolina Pirates, 77-56, in a Conference USA bout at the Cam Henderson Center.

Elijah Pittman scored 19 points for Marshall (9-9, 2-1 C-USA), which has won two of three. Dennis Tinnon logged a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, D.D. Scarver poured in 11 points, and Nigel Spikes grabbed 11 rebounds for the hosts.

For ECU (11-6, 2-2), Miguel Paul had 17 points and five assists, while Robert Sampson recorded 10 points, 17 rebounds, and four blocks. Maurice Kemp and Akeem Richmond each scored 10 points for the Pirates, who had won their previous two contests.

Marshall outshot ECU from the floor in the first half, 50 percent to 29 percent, as it went into halftime with a comfortable 43-23 advantage.

The Pirates continued the struggle from the field after the break (.364), and they never got closer than 14 points of the lead.

ECU committed 18 turnovers on the night, which turned into 24 points for Marshall.
