Recap: Oregon vs. Northern Ariz

Eugene, OR (Sports Network) - Tony Woods led four players in double figures with 14 points as the Oregon Ducks captured its first win of the season on opening night with an 83-73 victory over Northern Arizona at Matthew Knight Arena.

Damyean Dotson finished with 13 points, E.J. Singler had 12 and Dominic Artis chipped in 10 for Oregon (1-0). Singler also led the team in rebounds with eight.

DeWayne Russell scored 15 points off the bench for Northern Arizona (0-1). Michael Dunn was the only starter in double figures (13) while Max Jacobsen put in 10 as a reserve.

Oregon led 45-35 at the half thanks in large part to a 14-3 edge on points from the free throw line. The Ducks shot 46.7 percent in the first period which was just better than Northern Arizona's 45.2 percent.

In the second half Oregon heated up to 50 percent shooting but nine turnovers stopped the Ducks from expanding their lead. Northern Arizona shot 38.5 percent over the final 20 minutes.

Oregon was the more successful team on the inside with a 43-36 edge in rebounds and a 42-24 advantage on points in the paint.
