Recap: Oregon vs. Washington

Eugene, OR (Sports Network) - E.J. Singler posted 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and dished out four helpers, as the 16th-ranked Oregon Ducks slipped past Washington, 81-76, Saturday en route to their ninth straight victory.

Arsalan Kazemi registered a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Carlos Emory added 11 points off the bench for the Ducks (18-2, 7-0 Pac-12), who improved to 14-0 this season at Matthew Knight Arena. Johnathan Loyd contributed nine points, while Tony Woods and Damyean Dotson scored eight points apiece in the victory.

"We are 7-0 now but I still think we have a lot of work to do," Oregon coach Dana Altman said. "All it is going to take to change everything is one bad weekend. We have some tough games coming up so we need to fight hard."

Andrew Andrews paced the Huskies (12-8, 4-3) with 15 points and C.J. Wilcox added 14, for Washington, which has dropped three straight following a four- game winning streak.

"They are not the 316th team in the country; they are the 16th-ranked team in the country," UW head coach Lorenzo Romar said. "We knew we had a challenge. I thought our guys, with the exception of when they pulled away from us, played pretty good basketball."

After a highly competitive first half which saw six lead changes and four ties, Emory's dunk with 4:13 left, broke a 28-28 stalemate and helped the Ducks enter the break on a 9-5 rally and 37-33 lead.

Emory had seven points alone during the run and nine at the break and Oregon as a team shot 59.1 percent from the floor.

Washington, on the other hand, shot an even better, 65 percent (13-of-20), despite turning the ball over 15 times.

The game stayed around a 10 point advantage for the home team through most of the second half before Waverly Austin layup with eight-plus minutes remaining extended it to 64-51.

Minutes later, Loyd's lay-in with 4 1/2 left made it 70-56, but the Huskies weren't done just yet.

Wilcox nailed a 3-pointer with 1:22 left that made it 74-68, although the Ducks didn't put the game away, partly thanks to going 3-of-6 from the free throw line. Then Scott Suggs' trey followed by two Shawn Kemp Jr. free throws made things interesting, 77-73 with under 40 seconds left.

Oregon, however made shots when it counted, as Singler connected on two free throws to give his team enough of an edge to close things out.

The game was not very pretty in terms of turnovers, as Oregon accounted for 23 and Washington 21.
