Recap: Harvard vs. Rice

Cambridge, MA (Sports Network) - Laurent Rivard scored 21 points to lead the Harvard Crimson to a 92-62 rout of the Rice Owls in a non-conference affair at Lavietes Pavilion.

Wesley Saunders also scored 21 points for Harvard (8-5) which has won four of its last five. Siyani Chambers had 14 points and 10 assists, Kenyatta Smith added 11 points and Jonah Travis chipped in 10 as well for the Crimson.

Max Guercy scored 19 points to pace Rice (3-10) which has lost five of its last six. Tamir Jackson had 14 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double and Julian DeBose scored 10 points before fouling out.

At the end of the first half Harvard led comfortably, 43-21, after shooting 61.5 percent from the field while holding the Owls to just 25.0 percent.

The Owls improved to 52.0 percent shooting in the second half but the Crimson connected on 68.2 percent of its shots from the field in the final 20 minutes to keep itself well ahead.

Harvard outscored Rice 36-18 on points in the paint and had a 33-23 edge in rebounds.
