Recap: Oregon State vs. Towson

Corvallis, OR (Sports Network) - Marcus Damas knocked down the game-winning jumper with one-second remaining in overtime as the Towson Tigers outlasted the Oregon State Beavers, 67-66, in a non-conference tilt at Gill Coliseum.

Jerelle Benimon posted his eighth double-double of the season for the Tigers (5-8), with 20 points and a career-high 21 rebounds.

For the Beavers (9-3), Eric Moreland posted his third-straight double-double with 16 points and 18 rebounds, while Joe Burton added 15 points and Roberto Nelson finished with 14 points. Devon Collier added 12 points off the bench.

Oregon State shot 46.7 percent from the field in the first half and took a commanding 36-23 lead into halftime. Towson struggled to make just 33.3 percent of their field goal attempts to open the contest.

In the second half, the Beavers went cold from the floor, shooting just 23.3 percent from the field and missed both of their 3-point attempts. The Tigers were able to mount their comeback by shooting 41.7 percent from the field and 2-of-9 from beyond the three-point arc.

After trailing by as many as 19 points early in the second half, the Tigers slowly chipped away at the Beaver lead. Trailing by just two with 33 seconds to play, Benimon drained two free-throws to knot the contest at 60-60. Oregon State had chances to win it in regulation, but layups by Ahmad Starks and Collier in the final seconds would not go down.

In overtime, after the Tigers jumped out to the early lead, a 3-pointer by Starks with 17 seconds remaining put the Beavers ahead 66-65, setting the stage for the game-winner by Damas.

The Tigers had a slight edge on the boards, outrebounding the Beavers 46-44. The teams combined for just 15 turnovers.
