Recap: New Mexico St vs. Southern Miss

Las Cruces, NM (Sports Network) - Daniel Mullings scored a game-high 21 points as he guided the New Mexico State Aggies to a 68-60 win over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in non-conference action at the Pan American Center.

Mullings finished with a double-double as he also cleared a game-high 11 rebounds for the Aggies (4-4) as they won for the third time in the last four outings. Sim Bhullar accounted for 17 points and seven rebounds of his own off the bench for the hosts.

The Golden Eagles (6-1) were paced by Jonathan Mills and Michael Craig who both tallied 12 points, followed by Neil Watson with 11 in a reserve role.

Shooting an impressive 62.5 percent from the floor in the first half, NMSU moved out to a 39-28 advantage at the break.

In the second half USM made good on all 10 chances at the free-throw line, but knocked down a mere 2-of-11 beyond the arc, allowing the Aggies to capture the eight-point decision.

New Mexico State, which shot only 1-of-5 behind the three-point line in the meeting, overcame 20 turnovers in order the hand the Golden Eagles their first setback of the season.
