Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - The Southern Miss Golden Eagles earned an exciting 69-67 win over the Georgia State Panthers at GSU Sports Arena, behind a career-high performance by Jerrold Brooks, who scored 23 points.

Brooks was 7-of-10 from the field including 4-of-7 from 3-point range while also leading the team with four assists and three steals. For Georgia State (5-6), R.J. Hunter led all scorers with 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the floor including six 3-pointers. Manny Atkins had five assists and four rebounds while he and Devonta White added 13 points each in the second consecutive loss for the Panthers.

In the second half the Golden Eagles trailed by as much as 11 but were able to put things together as they fought back and took the lead, 65-63, with 2:21 left. After two free throws by White tied the game back up, Brooks hit a 3-pointer to put Southern Miss back on top for good as the Eagles held on for the victory.
