Recap: Morehead State vs. Southern Miss

Morehead, KY (Sports Network) - Rashard McGrill and Jerrold Brooks each scored 18 points as the Southern Miss Golden Eagles dismissed the Morehead State Eagles, 94-58, in a non-conference bout at Johnson Arena.

McGrill shot 5-of-6 from the field en route to his career-high point total, while Neil Watson recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 assists for Southern Miss (9-4). Daveon Boardingham and Norville Carey chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively.

For Morehead State (5-8), Bakari Turner scored a career-high 16 points, while Chad Posthumus and Maurice Lewis-Briggs netted eight points apiece.

Southern Miss started the game on an 11-0 run and went into halftime with a commanding 48-27 lead.

Morehead State closed the gap with a 12-6 spurt early in the second half, but the Golden Eagles pulled away down the stretch by scoring 35 of the game's final 49 points.

Morehead State shot just 34 percent from the field, which included a lowly 4- of-24 showing from beyond the arc. It also committed an unseemly 22 turnovers. Southern Miss, on the other hand, made 57.7 percent of its attempts from the field.
