Recap: Southern Miss vs. Tulane

Hattiesburg, MS (Sports Network) - Dwayne Davis scored a game-high 21 points as the Southern Miss Golden Eagles defeated the Tulane Green Wave, 71-60, in Conference USA action at Reed Green Coliseum.

Jerrold Brooks contributed 14 points for the Golden Eagles (19-6, 8-2 C-USA), but was the only other player in double-figures as Southern Miss snapped a two-game losing streak.

For the Green Wave (16-9, 4-6), Josh Davis produced a double-double of a 19 points and 10 boards. Ben Cherry added 17 points as Tulane had its two-game winning streak come to an end.

Southern Miss made 59.1 percent of its shots from the floor including four 3- pointers in the first half. The Golden Eagles held the visitors to a mere 8- of-23 made field goals, en route to a 31-21 advantage at the half.

Both teams shot well from the floor after the break. Tulane made good on 13- of-24 field goal tries while Souther Miss went 12-of-24. Southern Miss outscored the Green Wave by a point in the second period to extend its lead before the final buzzer.

Southern Miss knocked down 54.3 percent from the floor and forced 18 turnovers, while holding Tulane to 44.7 percent shooting from the field.
