Recap: Southern Miss vs. UCF

Hattiesburg, MS (Sports Network) - Dwayne Davis poured in 34 points as the Southern Miss Golden Eagles picked up a 70-62 win over the UCF Black Knights in a Conference USA tilt at Reed Green Coliseum.

Rashard McGill added 10 points for Southern Miss (23-8, 12-4 C-USA) which secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming C-USA Tournament.

Isaiah Sykes had 22 points and 11 rebounds and Kasey Wilson notched 11 points for UCF (20-11, 9-7).

Southern Miss rolled out to a 33-23 lead at the break after shooting 44.8 percent from the floor while holding UCF to 39.1 percent in the first 20 minutes.

After halftime the Knights shot just 30.8 percent from the field though they did nail six shots from 3-point range. The Golden Eagles had just seven field goals but hit 21-of-26 from the free-throw line to post the victory.

UCF lost despite a 41-33 edge on the boards.

Vickers returns to racing at Las Vegas

In December, doctors discovered that his body was rejecting a patch that was surgically placed over a hole in his heart in 2010. The 31-year-old Vickers had corrective surgery that month, forcing him to miss the Feb. 22 season- opening Daytona 500 and last Sunday's race at Atlanta.
