Recap: Washington St vs. Eastern Wash

Pullman, WA (Sports Network) - Brock Motum posted a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds as the Washington State Cougars captured an 88-69 victory over Eastern Washington in the season opener at Beasley Coliseum.

Mike Ladd and DaVonte Lacy had 15 points a piece for Washington State (1-0) while D.J. Shelton checked in with a team-high 12 rebounds.

Justin Crosgile paced Eastern Washington (0-1) with 28 points and five rebounds. He was the only player in double figures.

Washington State got out to a 39-20 lead at halftime by shooting 48.1 percent from the floor while holding an 11-1 advantage in points from the free throw line. Eastern Washington connected on only 21.9 percent of its first half shots.

Both team's heated up in the second half with Washington State at 61.5 percent shooting and Eastern Washington at 48.6 percent.

Washington State outscored Eastern Washington 26-4 from the charity stripe in the game and had a 47-34 edge in rebounds.
