Recap: Ill-Chicago vs. Colorado State

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Gary Talton scored 20 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Illinois-Chicago Flames picked up a 64-55 win over the Colorado State Rams in non-conference play at UIC Pavilion.

Daniel Barnes accounted for 14 points for the Flames (8-1), followed by Marc Brown and Josh Crittle with 12 and 10 points, respectively, as the team won a seventh straight.

The Rams (6-2) were paced by Greg Smith with 20 points, adding nine rebounds, while Dorian Green chipped in 10 points and Pierce Hornung contributed eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds in their second consecutive loss.

Both teams had a tough time finding the basket in the first half and with just eight total field goals through the first 20 minutes of action, UIC managed to grab a 21-19 advantage at the break.

In the second half the squads shot an identical 11-of-26 from the floor, which meant UIC's 17-of-20 showing at the free-throw line is what put the hosts over the top.

Colorado State cleared 21 offensive rebounds, compared to just 10 for the Flames, but it meant little as the Rams connected on only 33.3 percent from the floor for the entire game.
