Recap: Colorado State vs. Portland

Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Pierce Hornung tallied a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds as the Colorado State Rams defeated the Portland Pilots, 70-53, in the third round of the Las Vegas Classic at Orleans Arena.

Dan Bejarano also had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Colorado State (9-2), which has won three in a row. Wes Eikmeier added 14 points for the Rams.

For Portland (6-7), Ryan Nicholas scored 15 points and Riley Barker logged 11 points and 10 boards.

Colorado State shot 44.4 percent from the field in the first half as it took a 33-20 advantage into intermission. Portland struggled from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, going just 8-of-29 (.276).

The Pilots improved to 54.1 percent from the field in the second half, but they would never get closer than nine points of the lead.

Despite the win, the Rams were dreadful from beyond the arc, shooting just 1- of-15 from 3-point range.

Colorado State will close out the tournament on Sunday night against Virginia Tech, while Portland will square off against Bradley earlier in the day.
