Recap: Connecticut vs. Providence

Storrs, CT (Sports Network) - Ryan Boatright tallied 23 points and five assists to lead the Connecticut Huskies to a 63-59 overtime victory over the Providence Friars in Big East action at Gampel Pavilion.

DeAndre Daniels had 19 points and four blocked shots while Shabazz Napier netted 16 points for Connecticut (20-10, 10-8 Big East), which snapped a three-game losing skid.

Kadeem Batts registered his second consecutive double-double for Providence (17-13, 9-9) with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Kris Dunn contributed 11 points and four assists before fouling out while Josh Fortune scored 10 points off the bench.

UConn took care of the ball in the first half with just three turnovers while forcing nine Providence miscues. Boatright had 10 points and four assists at the break to pace the Huskies who led 32-26 at halftime.

Providence gained a slim lead early in the second half and held it for the majority of the period until Napier tied the game with a Boatright tied the score at 55-55 with 32 seconds remaining. Providence went to LaDontae Henton on the block with three seconds remaining but Daniels swatted the shot, forcing overtime.

With 19 seconds remaining in the extra session, Boatright absorbed contact on a drive to the basket, finished a floater and drew a foul on Bryce Cotton. Boatright hit the free throw to give the Huskies a 62-59 lead. Cotton's triple missed on the other end, and UConn held on. Providence shot just 1-of-8 in the overtime period.

The Huskies completed a season-sweep of the Friars with both wins coming in overtime.
