Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - Nate Lubick registered a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds to lift the Georgetown Hoyas to a 68-56 decision over the St. John's Red Storm in Big East Conference action at the Verizon Center.

JaKarr Sampson paced the Red Storm (14-8, 6-4) with 18 points and eight rebounds. Phil Greene IV and Marco Bourgault tallied 12 points apiece as St. John's had its five-game winning streak snapped.

The Red Storm held an early three-point advantage on the scoreboard before Porter scored seven consecutive points to spark a 12-0 run that put Georgetown up for good. The Hoyas outscored the visitors, 20-6, in the paint in the opening 20 minutes on their way to a 39-28 halftime lead.

Both sides were ice cold after the intermission. Georgetown hit just 33.3 percent of its field goal attempts. St. John's only lost the second stanza by a single point despite shooting just 29.7 percent from the field in the period.
