Recap: Fresno State vs. UC Irvine

Fresno, CA (Sports Network) - Chris McNealy scored a game-high 13 points off the bench as the UC Irvine Anteaters took down the Fresno State Bulldogs, 58-51, in a non-conference contest at the Save Mart Center.

Alex Young added 12 points and Will Davis hauled in 15 rebounds for UC Irvine (4-5) which had lost five of its previous six games.

Allen Huddleston scored 12 points and Kevin Olekaibe and Tyler Johnson each added 10 points for Fresno State (5-6) which has lost three straight.

Neither team found much success in the first half. Fresno State led 23-19 at intermission after shooting 27.3 percent from the field while UC Irvine connected on 25.9 percent of its shots from the field.

In the second half the Anteaters heated up to 42.9 percent shooting while the Bulldogs dropped to 22.7 percent. The game was tied 51-51 with just under two minutes remaining but the Anteaters ended the game on a 7-0 run as Fresno State missed all four of its field goal attempts in the final minutes.

UC Irvine had a 49-30 edge on the boards and outscored the Bulldogs 26-16 on points in the paint. The Anteaters lost despite turning the ball over 18 times while Fresno State had only nine turnovers.
