Nevada (4-3) at Pacific (3-4) (ET)

GAME NOTES: The Pacific Tigers try to put an end to a two-game slide on Tuesday night, as they tangle with the Nevada Wolf Pack in non-conference action at the Spanos Center.

Since winning consecutive outings against Xavier and Saint Mary's-CA the Tigers have lost back-to-back efforts versus California (78-58) and most recently nationally-ranked Gonzaga (85-67) on the road. The setbacks have dropped Pacific one game under .500 overall.

As for the Wolf Pack, they are currently a game over .500 after dropping two of their last three contests. The most recent of those defeats came against the Drake Bulldogs as part of the Mountain West-Missouri Valley Conference Challenge on Friday in a 76-66 final at home.

Pacific leads the series between these two foes by a count of 52-45, although the Pack won last season in Reno, 78-54, in order to halt a four-game slide in the relationship.

Malik Story scored a game-high 19 points, hitting 6-of-13 shots from the floor, but he was the only Nevada player to make more than three field goals as the team suffered a double-digit home loss to Drake last week. Deonte Burton added 12 points, but he shot only 3-of-10 from the field and missed all four chances from three-point range as the team finished 6-of-20 on the perimeter. Turning the ball over 15 times didn't help matters either. Burton and Story, the team players who each of 74 starts to their credit with the program, are carrying the Pack at the moment with 18.0 and 17.6 ppg, respectively. No one else is averaging even 7.5 ppg after seven games and that's a problem because it generally means opposing defenses know who to focus on. Nevertheless, the group is producing a healthy 75.1 ppg, but at the same time allowing 76.1 ppg as opponents knocked down 40.8 percent of their three-point tries.

The Tigers drained 10-of-19 shots behind the three-point line on Saturday against Gonzaga, but even that effort was not enough to keep the visitors from falling by 18 points. Pacific ended up hitting on 46.9 percent from the floor overall, but just 11-of-19 at the free-throw line and was beaten on the glass, 39-25. Travis Fulton came off the bench to score a team-high 15 points, followed by Lorenzo McCloud with 14 and Trevin Harris 11 points in the losing cause. Balanced scoring has been the objective of this squad so far this season as only one player is putting up double figures at the moment (McCloud, 12.0 ppg). The team is knocking down field goals at a 47.2 percent clip, including three-point tries with nearly 40 percent success, yet they are outscoring the competition by a mere 0.9 ppg at this stage of the campaign.

Even though the Wolf Pack doesn't have more than just a couple of solid offensive options, Story and Burton are still strong enough to lead the team to a victory over Pacific.
