Recap: Nevada vs. San Francisco

Reno, NV (Sports Network) - Deonte Burton led all scorers with 14 points as the Nevada Wolf Pack held off the San Francisco Dons, 59-51, in non-conference action at Lawlor Events Center.

Burton also added four rebounds, three assists, and three steals for Nevada (7-4), which has won three straight. Jordan Burris added 11 points and seven boards for the Wolf Pack.

For San Francisco (5-3), Cole Dickerson tallied 11 points and nine rebounds, while Tim Derksen and Tao Xu netted 10 points apiece.

Despite shooting 50 percent from the field in the first half, the Dons had just a 27-26 lead heading into intermission. Nevada shot only 31.4 percent in the opening frame, but it attempt 11 more field goals than San Francisco.

Nevada built a 15-point lead with seven and a half minutes left to play, but the Dons ripped off a 15-2 run to make it just a two-point game, 51-49, with under three minutes to play. San Francisco could not complete the comeback however, as the Wolf Pack drained five free throws in the final minute to seal the win.

Both teams were off the mark from three-point range, with San Francisco making 2-of-15 from beyond the arc and Nevada going a woeful 2-of-23.
