Recap: Cal Poly vs. Long Beach State

San Luis Obispo, CA (Sports Network) - Dylan Royer scored 17 points to lead the Cal Poly Mustangs past the Long Beach State 49ers, 79-73, in Big West Conference action at Mott Gym.

Reese Morgan tallied 16 points, Kyle Odister added 12 points and Brian Bennett chipped in 11 points for Cal Poly (6-6, 2-0 Big West). Jamal Johnson handed out eight assists and scored nine points.

James Ennis paced Long Beach State (5-8, 1-1) with 22 points. Keala King posted a 16-point, 13-rebound double-double off the bench and Mike Caffey chipped in 13 points.

Cal Poly led 34-32 at the end of the first half despite shooting just 38.5 percent from the field by outscoring Long Beach State from 3-point range (15-9).

The Mustangs improved to 47.1 percent shooting in the second half en route to the six-point victory.

The 49ers shot 43.6 percent overall. Cal Poly had a 38-34 edge on the boards and outscored the 49ers 30-21 from beyond the arc.
