Recap: UC Davis vs. Cal Poly

Davis, CA (Sports Network) - Corey Hawkins' jumper as time expired lifted the UC Davis Aggies to a 69-67 win over the Cal Poly Mustangs in a Big West Conference thriller at the Pavilion.

J.T. Adenrele had a game-high 20 points for UC Davis (5-9, 1-2 Big West) which had lost three of its previous four. Ryan Sypkens and Hawkins each added 15 points and Josh Ritchart chipped in 10 more.

Dylan Royer dropped in 19 points and Chris Eversley tacked on 18 for Cal Poly (7-7, 3-1) which had a three-game winning streak snapped. Brian Bennett also chipped in 11 points.

Cal Poly took a 37-31 lead into the break by hitting 15-of-30 shots from the field while UC Davis also shot well, knocking down 13-of-20 field goal attempts.

An 8-0 spurt from the Aggies late in the second half turned a five-point deficit into a 67-64 lead with 20 seconds remaining. Royer was then fouled on the Mustangs next possession on an attempt from beyond the arc and after calmly hitting all three free throws the game was tied, 67-67. Hawkins then collected an offensive rebound when a 3-point attempt from Paolo Mancasola was blocked and nailed the game-winner.

Cal Poly lost despite outscoring UC Davis 19-9 on points off of turnovers. UC Davis had a 32-26 edge on the boards.
