Recap: Hawaii vs. Cal State Fullerton

Honolulu, HI (Sports Network) - Garrett Jefferson nailed a jumper at the buzzer to lift the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors to a thrilling 90-88 victory over the Cal State Fullerton Titans in Big West action at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Isaac Fotu had a game-high 29 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double for Hawaii (8-5, 2-0 Big West). Brandon Spearman and Christian Standhardinger each added 15 points and Brandon Jawato tacked on 11. Vander Joaquim hauled in 12 rebounds as well for the Rainbow Warriors who have won three of their last four.

Kwame Vaughn paced Cal State Fullerton (7-6, 1-1) with 26 points and five rebounds. D.J. Seeley added 22 points, Sammy Yeager tallied 15, and Deuce Johnson finished with 14 as the Titans had a four-game winning streak snapped.

Both teams shot well in the first half. Hawaii connected on an even 50.0 percent of its field goal attempts while Cal State Fullerton hit on 48.6 percent including 5-of-15 from beyond the arc. The two squads were tied 40-40 going into the break.

Both teams improved in the second half with the Rainbow Warriors shooting 62.5 percent while the Titans shot at a 54.3 percent clip including 5-of-8 from 3-point range.

Manroop Clair sank a pair of free throws with 17 seconds remaining to give Hawaii an 88-85 advantage. On the Titans next possession Seeley nailed a 3-pointer to knot the game up with six seconds remaining to set up Jefferson's game-winner.

Hawaii had a 37-31 edge in rebounds which helped the Rainbow Warriors overcome a game-high 20 turnovers.
