Recap: Cal State Fullerton vs. UC Davis

Fullerton, CA (Sports Network) - J.T. Adenrele hung up 22 points and 15 rebounds for the UC Davis Aggies who held on for a 71-68 victory over the Cal State Fullerton Titans in a Big West Conference duel at Titan Gym.

Corey Hawkins added 16 points and Ryan Sypkens chipped in 14 for UC Davis (14-14, 9-7 Big West) which has won five of its last six games.

Kwame Vaughn poured in 29 points and Alex Harris chipped in 15 points and seven assists for Cal State Fullerton (14-15, 6-10) which has lost two straight.

UC Davis cruised to a 40-28 lead at the half by hitting 48.6 percent from the field while holding Cal State Fullerton to nine field goals on 33.3 percent shooting.

The Titans came roaring back in the second half as they shot 54.2 percent from the field while getting 22 points from Vaughn. The Titans pulled ahead, 67-66, on a pair of free-throws from Vaughn with 3:08 remaining. Adenrele answered with a jump shot with 1:42 left to pull the Titans back ahead. Neither team scored for more than a minute and a half until Tyler Les netted a pair of free-throws with six seconds left to push the Aggies advantage to three. Harris got two free-throws on the other end but Hawkins answered with two made baskets at the charity stripe. That gave the Titans just a second to get off a potential game-tying shot but Harris' attempt was off the mark.

UC Davis' 19-6 edge in second chance points and 39-22 advantage in rebounds loomed large in the victory.
