Recap: CS-Northridge vs. Siena

San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Stephan Hicks and Stephen Maxwell both recorded double-doubles as the Cal State Northridge Matadors held off the Siena Saints, 68-64, in the NUCDF Basketball Challenge at Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Hicks put up a game-high 20 points and added 10 rebounds, while Maxwell tallied 19 points and 10 boards for the Matadors (4-0), who will play host team San Diego tomorrow. Josh Greene chipped in 11 points and four assists.

For Siena (1-2), Rob Poole and O.D. Anosike scored 19 points apiece, with Anosike adding 12 rebounds. Evan Hymes netted 14 but committed 11 turnovers. The Saints take on Northern Kentucky next.

Northridge took a 34-31 lead into halftime thanks to 48.1 percent field goal shooting in the frame.

The teams played a back-and-forth game in the second half. Siena took a 58-57 with just over three minutes remaining following a pair of Hymes' free throws, but just over a minute later the Matadors took the lead for good on a Greene three-pointer.

There were eight ties and 16 lead changes in the contest. The difference was made at the foul line, where Northridge connected on 21-of-28 free throws. Siena went to the stripe just 15 times, making 11.
