Houston Baptist (2-0) at Hawaii (2-0) (ET)

GAME NOTES: The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors shoot for their 13th title in the 48th annual Rainbow Classic as they clash with the Houston Baptist Huskies at the Stan Sheriff Center.

These two teams have faced off against the same two opponents to kick off the 2012-13 campaign and come out victorious, which means one squad will be falling for the first time this season once the final buzzer sounds.

For the Huskies, members of the Great West Conference, they took down Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday by a score of 72-68, and then captured a 70-55 victory against Maryland-Eastern Shore over the weekend.

The same goes for the Warriors as they conquered the Fighting Hawks to begin the season, 76-64, and then crushed the Golden Lions as well, 81-54.

Hawaii leads the all-time series by a count of 2-0, claiming a pair of meetings from back in February of 1977.

Against Maryland Eastern Shore a couple days back, Art Bernardi answered the call for the Huskies as he tallied a team-best 22 points and cleared seven rebounds in 28 minutes of action. Bernardi knocked down all but four of his 14 field goal attempts as the team finished up an impressive 57.7 percent from the floor and 6-of-11 behind the three-point line. Also scoring in double figures for the group was Marcus Davis with 13 points, adding five rebounds, four assists and four steals to his stat line. However, Houston Baptist did have a number of problems to deal with as the team turned the ball over 19 times and shot a dismal 4-of-12 at the free-throw line. Davis also had a quality outing against the Golden Lions in the opener as he dropped in 22 points and collected seven rebounds, even though the team shot only 38.5 percent from the floor. The good news there was that the group made good on 17-of-25 at the free-throw line at least.

Defense was the name of the game for the Warriors against Arkansas-Pine Bluff as the hosts limited the visitors to a mere 7-of-38 shooting from the floor in the second half, including 2-of-14 behind the three-point line, en route to a very comfortable victory. Hauns Brereton came up a rebound shy of a double- double as he matched Vander Joaquim for the scoring lead with 15 points, the latter getting the job done in just 19 minutes off the bench. Brandon Spearman tacked on 12 points and Christian Standhardinger accounted for another 11 points and six boards for a unit that shot close to 50 percent from the floor in the outing and 11-of-24 on the perimeter in order to overcome 17 turnovers. While it is still very early in the campaign, Brereton is off to a strong start with 19.5 ppg, stemming from 7-of-13 shooting from three-point range. The team as a whole is converting 38.5 percent from the outside, compared to a mere 9-of-50 (.180) for the competition.

The time change all the way out in Honolulu is never easy for visiting teams and even though the Huskies have been out on the island for quite a while already, they'll still be trying to catch up to the Rainbow Warriors in this one.
