Recap: Hawaii vs. UC Davis

Honolulu, HI (Sports Network) - Corey Hawkins set a new school record as he poured in 40 points to push the UC Davis Aggies past the Hawaii Warriors for a 93-82 win in a Big West Conference shootout at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Hawkins also tied the UC Davis (7-10, 3-3 Big West) school-record with eight makes from 3-point range as the Aggies tied the program record with 16 makes from distance. J.T. Adenrele scored 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds while guard Paolo Mancasola had a career-high 11 assists. Hawkins broke the 34-year old record of 39 points previously held by Mike Lien. The victory was the third in four games for UC Davis.

Christian Standhardinger tallied a team-best 20 points and grabbed eight boards for Hawaii (10-8, 4-3), which also received a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds from Joaquim Vander. Isaac Fotu and Brandon Spearman scored 10 points apiece as the Warriors lost for the third time in four outings.

UC Davis drilled 14 attempts from beyond the arc, seven of which came courtesy of Hawkins, to build a 54-37 lead on the scoreboard as the game progressed into the intermission. The Aggies used a 15-5 run early in the first half to take control before the break. Hawaii fell behind after shooting 39.4 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes of action.

The Warriors improved to hit 47.1 percent of their field goal tries after halftime, but the Aggies converted 17-of-19 at the free throw line in the second stanza to stay in front.

Due to UC Davis's outburst from beyond the arc, it managed to outscore the hosts, 48-18, from 3-point range.
