Recap: Hawaii vs. Long Beach State

Honolulu, HI (Sports Network) - Christian Standhardinger registered a double- double of 20 points and 13 boards as the Hawaii Warriors coasted to a 94-73 victory over the Long Beach State 49ers in a Big West Conference tilt at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Hauns Brereton led Hawaii (14-9, 8-4 Big West) with 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the floor while Vander Joaquim contributed 18 points. Brandon Spearman added 16 points, Brandon Jawato scored 12, and Isaac Fotu grabbed 10 rebounds off the bench to help the Warriors earn their fourth victory in a row.

Tony Freeland paced LBSU (13-9, 9-2) with 18 points and seven boards in the setback. Keala King chipped in 14 points, James Ennis netted 13, and Mike Caffey provided 12 points as the 49ers had their eight-game winning streak spoiled.

Hawaii came out of the gate red-hot, hitting on 58.8 percent of its field goal tries including 7-of-12 from beyond the arc to take a massive, 53-20 lead into halftime. The 49ers fell behind after converting a mere 20 percent of their shots from the floor and just 1-of-9 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes.

LBSU tried to battle back after the break by shooting 53.3 percent from the floor while adding 17 more points at the free-throw line, but the halftime deficit was too great to overcome.

Hawaii held a dominant, 46-21 edge in the rebounding battle to overcome its 23 turnovers. LBSU still has sole possession of first place in the Big West standings after suffering its second loss in conference action.
