Recap: Long Beach State vs. UC Riverside

Long Beach, CA (Sports Network) - Tony Freeland notched 14 points as the Long Beach State 49ers routed the UC Riverside Highlanders, 75-35, in Big West action at Walter Pyramid.

James Ennis had 12 points for Long Beach State (16-9, 12-2 Big West) while Deng Deng added 10 points.

Taylor Johns paced UC Riverside (5-20, 2-11) with 10 points as the Highlanders became losers for the seventh straight game.

Long Beach State came out of the gate and shot 52.2 percent in the first half while forcing 12 Riverside turnovers. Ennis had 10 points in the opening period as LBSU led 31-19 at the break.

The 49ers extended their lead to 53-30 midway through the second half and never looked back. The Highlanders failed to produce a comeback effort as they went 6-of-28 from the floor in the final 20 minutes.

Riverside hit just 1-of-10 from behind the arc while LBSU converted an efficient 10-of-24 from long range.
