Recap: South Florida vs. Villanova

Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Mouphtaou Yarou recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds to push the Villanova Wildcats to a 61-53 Big East victory over the South Florida Bulls at the Sun Dome.

Yarou was 6-of-11 from the field for the Wildcats (11-4, 2-0 Big East), who earned their seventh consecutive win. JayVaughn Pinkston scored 15 points while Daniel Ochefu added 12 points and eight rebounds.

Victor Rudd scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Bulls (9-5, 0-2), who have now lost back-to-back games. Anthony Collins managed 11 points and four assists while Toarlyn Fitzpatrick added 10 points with two 3- pointers.

Villanova led 34-20 at the break after hold USF to 30.4 percent shooting from the field in the first half.

In the second half, the Bulls outscored the Wildcats, 33-27, while shooting 40.7 percent from the floor. The strong showing after the intermission was not enough to overcome the double-digit halftime deficit.

Villanova held a 42-32 edge on the boards and limited USF to 36.0 percent shooting for the game.
