Recap: UC Riverside vs. Pacific

Riverside, CA (Sports Network) - Lorenzo McCloud scored 15 points and handed out six assists as the Pacific Tigers held on for a 70-68 victory over the UC Riverside Highlanders in Big West action at SRC Arena.

Sama Taku added 12 points, Travis Fulton tacked on 11 and Colin Beatty registered 10 for Pacific (17-12, 11-5 Big West) which has won consecutive games.

Chris Patton dumped in a game-high 28 points and Robert Smith provided 16 for UC Riverside (6-23, 3-13) which has lost nine of its last 10.

Both teams shot 53.8 percent from the floor and knocked down five triples in the first half. However Pacific had a 10-7 edge from the free-throw line to take a 43-40 lead into the break.

Pacific had a 69-60 lead with 4:33 remaining. The Highlanders then pulled off a 7-0 run capped by a Patton jumper with 12 seconds remaining. McCloud was fouled and split the ensuing free-throws and Davin Guinn pulled down the rebound for the Highlanders. However Smith missed a potential game-winning 3-point attempt as time expired.

UC Riverside had a 33-28 edge in rebounds. The teams combined for just 14 turnovers.
